Students experience daily religious education lessons based upon the units of work in the K-6 Religious Education Curriculum of the Diocese of Wollongong, which incorporate key content, Scripture and Church Doctrine to be addressed.

Programming in Religious Education reflects the Emmaus Paradigm, which is derived from the Emmaus Story (Luke 24:13-35).  In this educative process, a balance of learning experiences is maintained in four areas – Lived Experience, Content, Internalisation and Response – in order to allow the students to:
  • Make Sense of everyday life in the broader contexts of mystery, complexity, confusion and awe;
  • Gain Access to and understand the Scriptures, the traditions of the Catholic community, its stories, its experiences and its teachings;
  • Respond to the activity of God in their lives and in the whole of creation; and
  • Celebrate with others the mystery and life of the Risen Christ.
An important feature of the K-6 Religious Education Curriculum is the Storytelling approach. This hands-on approach allows the students to learn about the richness of our Catholic Tradition and Sacred Story through engaging them with the use of 2D and 3D materials.

Father Peter also visits classrooms to support the Religious Education Programs being conducted in the classes.

As is customary in all Key Learning Areas, student learning in Religious Education is regularly assessed and student achievement is reported to parents.
